WASH initiatives in urban areas

Community development/stakeholders engagement Program:-

Rapid and unplanned process of urbanization has created such type of situation under which a large section of urban population live without provision of safe drinking water and proper sanitation facilities including lack of SLWM (Solid and liquid Waste Management) facility. Due to this reason number of slums in Bihar is increasing and slum dwellers are compelled to live under extremely unhygienic condition which is basic reason of their low health status and it causes increased expenditure on medical treatment and even loss of productivity. GSSG as an organization understood this fact and diversified its software activities in urban areas of Patna and Jehanabad district and efforts were made to sensitized ULBs officials, district administration on concerned issues of WASH and start community awareness and stakeholders engagement initiatives. Behavior change communication among people for prevention from diseases. Organization worked with twin strategy under which process of advocacy from block to the district level was sustained and behavior change communication was done among general public.
